Adorable shoujo cooking manga.

Hanayu is a girl from a pastry-chef family who is desperate to break into the male-dominated world of sushi. She reminisces fondly about the moment she touched a fish for the first time. But since she worries that her family will disapprove of her leaving the baking business, clearly her only option is to marry her cute cooking school classmate Hayato, a boy from a sushi-chef family who is desperate to become a pastry chef!

Contrived and ridiculous; also utterly sweet and funny. The cooking details and crazy cooking school assignments ("I must be able to read a book through your eighty perfect cucumber slices!") are a lot of fun, and Hanayu's bewilderment and second-guessing of her own feelings as as she begins a relationship with Hayato ring true despite the preposterous circumstances.

Oh, my. Mystic is learning to cook. And she has a cooking came for her DS. I think this needs to go on the Christmas list. Where did you pick it up?

Disturbingly, I believe 'reading text through your slices of X' is an actual cooking school test. I can no longer remember what the official designation for that kind of slice is, but there is one in the French cullinary tradition, and they make you learn how to do it at cullinary academies.

You read it! It's so cute! And I laughed so hard at the author's notes.

This one was actually reviewed by Anime News Network, though the reviewer was underwhelmed. The short take is, essentially, pleasent but not zany enough for romantic comedy nor with enough recipes for a cooking manga.
